Abi Group - Pacific Square - Maroubra

 Bathroom Fit Out

 Kitchen White Goods

This contract involved the fit out of skirting, architrave, bathrooms and white goods to 299 apartments at 707 – 745 Anzac Parade, Maroubra, which commenced 25th July 2004 and finish February 2005.

Although the project ran very smoothly we did encounter delays due to other trades on site trying to complete their works within time scales yet hampered by their own delays, (the domino effect). In some cases this meant leaving the task at hand and moving to another area or another job as the case may be, but where possible work around processes were put in place, with everyone working together. It also helped that a Millennium Carpentry Services Pty Ltd senior manager was on site to deal with any issues as they arose i.e. delays, industrial relation issues etc.

Supplied and installed pergola at the Children’s Playground, this job was completed within a one week time frame.

Walkers Construction–Rhodes Shopping Centre

Although we were under pressure to complete the works within the contractual date we acknowledge this was achieved by the teamwork involved not only from Millennium Carpentry Services Pty Ltd employees but other trades on site and the rapport and respect they had for each other resulting in quality craftsmanship from all concerned to the end product.

This project was contracted for completion on the 29th November 2004 and we achieved the target completion date by having onsite supervision, implementing a 24/7 work schedule close to completion date, holding ongoing meetings with client then disseminating any information to employees by holding regular tool box meetings. back to top

DMM – Dog Kennels

In May 2005 we were the principal contractor for the Dog Kennel Redevelopment at DMM, and a completion date of the 24th June 2005 was agreed. As with any project comprehensive safe work method statements (SWMS) were drawn up with particular reference to epoxy (hazardous substance) and supplemented by materials safe data sheets from the supplier (MSDS).

Additional to the contract for the dog kennels a variation of new turf and footpaths were requested by the DMM. On completion these provided safe access points in various areas.
The internal of old and new kennels were lined with special epoxy coating for ease of maintenance and provide a high standard of hygiene.  back to top

DMM – Asbestos Project
We were successful in being the preferred tender for this project in February 2005 which involved the removal of asbestos from various building at Kapyong Lines, Liverpool. The works included removing the old asbestos and replacement of new fc sheeting with ventilation panelling and replacement of electrical works, painting and replacement of ‘hazardous signs’ to doors etc., this involved working at weekends to ensure minimal disruption to staff. Because of the nature of the work involved we engaged specialised sub contractors for the safe removal and disposal of the asbestos who then supplied tipping dockets following the disposal of the asbestos to an approved tip site. Our sub contractors supplied their own SWMS, and during induction stage all SWMS were used for training and subsequently signed off by all employees and sub contractors working on the project, we then supplemented this by ensuring full attendance at tool box meetings to address any issues. back to top

PCG – Lecture Theatre Fit Out (Pfizer)
This project was challenging as it involved a fit out to a lecture theatre, at 32 -42 Wharf Road, West Ryde. We constructed the floor area with laminated beams and plywood flooring and then acoustically soundproofed the area as per engineer’s drawings. However in order to complete this work within the time frame of the agreed contract and budget we had a team working 24/7 at different stages as the work demanded, which proved to be very successful. Again as with any work undertaken outside normal work hours we ensured that employees were fit and competent to carry out night work taking into consideration the upheaval to the body system, and ensured that time off complied with our enterprise agreement and Health & Safety guidelines. back to top

Roadway at DMM - Holsworthy
Due to a fire at the main storage area a new roadway for access to new a storage facility was requested and required our urgent attention. The project involved the design and construction of roadways capable of taking a 14 ton payload and the design and construction of bollards to withstand a 14 ton impact. We completed this project within a very tight time frame as we were able to utilise the services of some of our sub contractors in conjunction with re scheduling our own workforce to carry out the works as requested.
All works were certified by a design engineer upon completion before sign off to DMM. back to top

St Hilliers - AAPT World Square
We supplied and installed the office joinery and hardware and also installed the kitchenette and lunch room facility in the AAPT building at World Square. A key feature is the prep panels (orange panels over work bench on right hand picture) to light boxes in various offices and kitchens, these panels consist of different colours to enhance the décor of the area. One of the advantages of these panels is the ease of access for maintenance and cabling work. The panels are of a plastic Perspex type which gives the effect of an ice cube. This Perspex is manufactured in Austria which we had shipped across for the project.

MPX – Fusion Project – 22-36 Mountain Street

This project involved the refurbishment of the existing heritage building at 22-36 Mountain Street and the carpentry fit out to the new building consisting of 100 apartments.

The works also included extensive window refurbishments to the heritage building which involved unsocial and weekend work. Specialised training in safety awareness was essential for our employees in the transportation, handling, team lifting and installation of Glass. Public safety was also a major feature during the unloading of glass.

As shown above the apartment fit out was very detailed and or involvement included the installation of skirting, architrave, white goods, and bathroom fittings. We kept within budget on this project by adhering to the MPX project plan and ensuring attendance at weekly site meetings thus addressing any issues on either side as they arose.

We were reimbursed our final retention claim in April this year which confirmed client satisfaction and nil defects in our works as contributed to this project. back to top
